Next year in Seattle, the SCAA is giving a consumer oriented lecture to business professionals. The topic is:
Capitalizing on Coffee at Home: Building your business by supporting the growing interest in specialty coffee at home.
Now, presented without (much) commentary, here's the group they chose to give this lecture. What do you think?
Mark Hellweg, Clive Coffee (I likey, Mark's great) Scott Callender, Incognito Coffee Colby Barr, Verve Coffee Nick Cho
So. what do you think? I can say that last year's consumer-oriented discussion at SCAA's Symposium wasn't very well received, and was a disappointment to at least two vendors I know who paid for the symposium to just see that part of it.

since you asked for feedback...
...and this is just my opinion...
oh, maybe a tad of background first to put my forthcoming opinion into perspective...
I have a very rewarding career outside of the coffee world. Therefore, I have no real desire to start a coffee related business, except to either help people or for fun. If I ever did start one, it would be as a hobby as much as a business. However, I've wanted to attend SCAA for a few years now...just waiting til the time comes that it works well for me to do so. I came pretty close to going to Boston for it, in fact.
I don't know many names in the professional coffee world, and none of those guys are on my radar. The businesses mentioned are well known to me, however, and given these guys were selected to represent them, I'd expect the talks to be great.
I know it's not really the scope of SCAA to focus on consumers, but if I ever make it, I'll be looking for high end consumer level and light commercial level things and info. I'll also want to meet as many of the CoffeeGeeks I've come to know here as possible.
Well, again...just my $0.02, fwiw.
...and Mark, a million thanks to you for having this site!!!!!
. Always remember the most important thing is what ends up in your cup!
