No it wasnt spritzing from the bottom of the pod, it was leaking from around the seal between the top of the pod and the machine

Oh.. Hmm.  Was the portafilter completely locked in?   90' left to right?  If so it sounds like it needs a new group gasket.  All machines do from time to time.

Yup! Oh wow that's a big thing for the seller to leave out!

Here's a parts supplier for you.  New gasket will cost you $10

You only need a new one if you are using hard water.  The only way to know would be to test the water coming out of your machine with a tds meter

That's awesome! You don't need the filter.  All the really do is soften the water to prevent scale build up.  low ppm usually under 50 is considered soft water.  That's what I got with a softener here in Canada and I use straight tap water with my Silvia.
Our regular tap water which comes from the Grand is closer to 400 ppm.  450+ is considered undrinkable.

Wow thats a huge difference.  Ok so is there anything else I should order besides the grouphead gasket and the shower screen? Whats the grouphead o-ring, do I need that too?  Any brushes or lubricant or cleaning supplies I will need in the future?  The seller gave me cleaner for the machine and cleaner for the grinder.  Also, how do I know if I should buy new burrs for the grinder?  Id rather not spend 50 bucks on new burrs if I dont need to.

No you shouldn't need the O-ring.  That is for the boiler-grouphead which would be leaking if it needed to be replaced or if you decided to take it apart.  A nylon brish or pallo wand for the group would keep it clean.  Eventually buy some descaling liquid. Even tho you have soft water I'd still descale every 3-6 months.  I do. I don't think you would need any special tools or lube to install. It's just a remove and replace with your hands.  The gasket and screen are just held in my one screw.

Burrs.. If you can grind fine enough to choke out your espresso machine then they still have some life left.  Also look for any nicks or dents in the teeth of the burrs.  lightly dragging your finger on the burrs they should feel sharp.

Here's an exploded view of your machine for refrence. :)
