This kettle has apparently become de rigeur among the pour over and Chemex cognoscenti.
Can anyone extol upon its virtues...as cost is high and as much as I like coffee , I'd be hard pressed to even consider acquiring one. I'd be interested in hearing what makes it so special and how it got on the coffee making "A" list.

I'm sorry to be so rude, but this is such a BASIC topic that has been discussed endlessly and I feel there is no excuse for not doing a little research on Google and the forums before making such a post.

No great insight to be offered other than if you have to be sold on the idea you probably don't need one. All it does is allow you to control the pour better than you can with a regular kettle, where you more or less add the water in one big dollop.
