I just ordered a set of six (with the green banded top rim) today at 6:07pm! {;-) Victor Mugs, Vintage New Old Stock (1987) Item# GS6 , Color and Quantity: Green Stripe Set of 6 $36.00
I sure hope they pack them well as they're coming to Canada. I believe they'll be shipped by USPS Priority Mail International large flate rate box, so $100 of insurance is included 'free'. The mugs were very well packed with lots of small bubble wrap around each mug & a layer of shreaded paper on the bottom & also surrounding the bubble wrap!
P.S. I was able to substitute two of the green banded mugs for two of the last remaining NOS (New Old Stock) plain white mugs from Jay Kravitz's website Victor Mugs, & also Victor Mugs eBay store.
These prized Victor Mugs will be cherished & have an honored place in my home. I just had to share my incredible fortune & opportunity on purchasing a rare piece of American history, but sadly an extinct product.
Just received my EXCELLENT"V" for Victory (I'm calling them) Victor Mugs today at 1:43pm, 4 minutes under 53 hours total delivery time!
Very happy!!! {:-D
P.S. I wanted to purchase these Victor Mugs ever since CG member lifeandpeace posted about them on Sun Sep 11, 2011, 4:15pm., but for one reason or another (the main one being the total cost including shipping {couldn't afford it at the time}) was what killed it for me. But in hindsight I/you can't afford to not buy these while you still have the chance & the opportunity as the purchasing window is getting very small & will disappear forever very soon.
P.P.S. In my telephone conversation with Jay on Tues the 24th, I asked if he ever asked the 4th generation Victor plant/sales manager Mr. Nelson McKee what it would take if at all possible to start up production again & do a limited run or a special edition or commerative edition Victor Mug. Jay said he indeed did ask, & it would take an order of 25,000 minimum. I said to Jay that we have over 75,000 Coffeegeek members, & if one out of three ordered just one., they could do it! {;-D

Craig, those look EXACTLY like those used in diners I requested while performing on the road in the 70's and early 80's. That stripe at the top. I have Intelly and Primo mugs. The Intelly weighing in at 1lb 2oz. As it holds 8oz, I have to think the Victor is still oz for oz champ! The Primo is in the dishwasher.....hiding.

No, they actually cost me slightly more Rob due to the fact that the exchange rate on Mon July 23rd when I purchased them was more for a US dollar. The cost of the mugs was $37.50 versus $36.00, & the shipping was $45.00 for a US cost of $82.50. The Paypal converted price was $86.22 Canadian. Paypal's cut is an additional 2.9%. Paypal's exchange rate ot the time: 1 Canadian Dollar = 0.956938 U.S. Dollars.
The cheapest place is the Victor Mug website. Not including shipping, the cost of a 6 mug set is only $6.00 per mug then.

I just found four of the Victors which I like better than the similar but thinner walled HLC marked diner mugs I bought from a local diner about 15 years ago. I understand these are Homer Lauglin Co. mugs but I've never seen this particular logo: HLC on top, USA on bottom and a design in the middle.
Out of curiosity, I called HLC today and found out these mugs are their 300 model. If you can't find a Victor or just want a new, well-made diner style mug, maybe these'll do ya.

What a blast from the past! My husband and I acquired a six-pack of Victor mugs from the factory when we married 30 years ago. Four have survived. I include a photo to show older model may be a little different if you look at the attachment of the handle to the body.
