Wow, a blast from the past. That's too funny, SPAZZ.
Since I started this post (and since it died!) Starbucks released their blonde roast. I still haven't had any, but I tried to get my hands on some in Orlando last week. The shop had just closed for the day when I arrived.

Well, I tried the "light" brew from *$ and you have not missed anything. I was falling asleep while driving and saw a bux on the next exit so I pulled off and bought a cup of the blond. Honestly, just stopping the car and walking around did more good than the coffee as I really could not drink it, even their "light" roast was burnt. Well that is the way I took it anyway, I tossed the unconsumed cup of "coffee" when we arrived at the end of the drive.

When I first visited the United States back in 1999, Starbuck's was just about the only place I knew where to get a halfway decent cup of coffee. Already being used to home made espresso, I found the kind of stale and week drip coffee they served elsewhere simply horrible. But as far as I remember, they actually had portafilter machines in those days. Nowadays, all I see is superautomatics.

I think this was an attempt at "standardization". I find all of their swill undrinkable, even when loaded with gobs of sweetener, flavoring and milk. Geez, even chocolate doesn't cover it up!

The "Blonde" roasts are not too bad. Of the three I prefer the "Indivisible" blend of both Kenyan and Ethiopian beans. Is it as good as fresh roasted, of course not! But in a pinch, it is at least tolerable. Glad to see that not every bean they buy is char broiled beyond belief.

I don't know which they sold me but it was undrinkable, I had hoped that the BLOND roasted coffee would at least be better than AM-PM coffee but, for me, this stop, it wasn't. YMMV!

In September of 2011 my wife and I went to Seattle for the first time to attend the CoffeeFest and see the sights. There was a Starbucks in the lobby of our hotel. It surprised me in 2 ways. 1 - they had a real espresso machine and grinder and the barista made a very good latte - even with some nice latte art. This was by far the best espresso drink I ever had at a Starbucks. 2 - each morning my wife went down to the lobby and picked us up 2 coffees. The Sumatra was about as good as any Sumatra I've had.

The blonde is bad, real bad... the woman bought the beans one day and I figured what the hell... gross. And its no where near a "light" roasted bean lol, maybe for them lol.
