Expertise: I like coffee

Subject: Coffee in Mexico resort

Well, I just returned from an all inclusive resort in Mexico, by Playa Del Carmen, and I'm hooked on their coffee...now I wish I had asked more questions about it, but the language was a barrier.

I'm use to drinking coffee black, and like it stronger than normal (I'm from Canada and Tim Hortons is a popular chain here and I usually drink it black, or with sugar).

The first time I ordered a coffee in Mexico, the waiter brought me a cup half full of coffee, and then continued to fill almost the rest of it up with "milk".

Later on, I found that the coffee straight up was quite strong, and that the 'milk' they used was warm.

I would like to replicate this at home now...any ideas on exactly what I was drinking?

That's a cafe au lait, double brew ( use twice as many scoops ) some decent dark-ish ( not Starbucks charcoal, but dark ) coffee in a french press and mix with warm milk

Don't know what part of Canada you're from but JJBean or 49th Parallel are in Vancouver, both have really great freshly roasted beans ( pro tip: if it doesn't have a "roasted on" date on the bag, it's stale. )
