I was recently at one of the Ikea near Philadelphia and noticed that they changed the coffee they sell. They now sell Ikea branded coffee as opposed to the Lofsberg Lila brand they used to sell.
I noticed on the package that it was "UTZ Certified". Looking online, this appears to be some sort of fair trade association. Is it real or just some sort of feel good marketing that holds no weight? Most of the roasters and suppliers appear to be European. And one of them is Walmart!

UTZ is a legit certification, more popular in Europe, and primarily concerned with transparency in the coffee chain. It isn't connected to Fair Trade. Many of the large multinationals are jumping on board (e.g., Sara Lee), which rather dilutes its value for me personally. I wrote about this certification here: http://www.coffeehabitat.com/2007/02/utz_kapeh.html
I focused mostly on the environmental criteria (anemic), but included links to the criteria.
