Thanks so much for this podcast. It prompted me to buy the book, and the book is one of the more enjoyable reads I've had in a long time. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on lately about coffee, but it is almost all from the end consumer's perspective--roasting, grinding, and brewing. I buy coffee from all the roasters highlighted in the book, but exactly what is involved in getting the coffee from the tree to the roaster has been a mystery to me until now. I knew next to nothing about how the elite roasters identify and purchase choice beans. Weissman's book has increased my ethusiasm for speciality coffee and leaves me wanting to know still more.
I'd love to see more features and podcasts on coffee production and trade: the economics, politics, and sociology of it, as well as the horticultural aspects--varieties, growing conditions, harvesting, processing, etc.
