Espresso is, admittedly, an aquired taste, and many still haven't "aquired" the taste for it yet. This drink is an easy, tasty way to introduce them to the nectar of coffee.

You should keep in mind that if you decide to use a cream from a can, make sure you take the free gas from the can in a free space before the cream starts to go out. Otherwise, the coffee will splash all over.

I'm sorry, but I have to speak up for the purists.
How can you be serious about coffee if your adulterate it with Splenda (aka Sucralose)? I only have one word for this stuff:
AAARRRGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!! It tastes filthy!
[digressive rant begins] I'm afraid I just don't 'get' the artificial sweetener thing. They all taste so disgusting to me I'd rather do without the sweetening than have the nasty aftertaste (without even beginning to consider the not-quite-worked-out health consequences of the stuff).
As for skim milk...well if you you really prefer the taste of it, it's okay (we'll just have to agree to disagree!).
And whipped cream out of a can...again, not exactly the real thing.

I find it amazing that you'd say anyone, much less STARBUCKS, "invented" espresso with whipped cream! I can't imagine that anyone who has ever drank a cup of coffee, not to mention espresso, would not have at some time put a dollop of whipped cream atop his or her serving. Likewise, who has not on occasion(s) added a squirt -- or 3 or 4 -- of a liquor or liquer? Perhaps, a few Baptists and Muslims...but none others, me thinks!

I love the con panna, yes I do. I'm not so sure I agree with it being a "starbucks invention"...nope, not by any stretch of the imagination...and I'm gonna have to see what kind of whip you get out of skim and splenda, sounds interesting, I've only made fatty sugary whip myself.
Greetings all - I love latte's and had purchased an el cheapo espresso / coffee machine back as an undergraduate college student. And I've found that my latte's never look or taste like what I get at a coffee house. Looking at the espresso shots on this page, I noticed, well, one that it's time to take a break and get some coffee ;) cause this looks soo goood, and two that it has this really nice chocolate brown color that my home brewed espresso never has [it just looks very close to black]. Do you all have any thoughts on why this is [I'm guessing it's just the quality of the espresso machine, but maybe there's different kinds of machines that I don't know about], I am shopping around for a better espresso machine but don't really know what to look for -- thanks for any thoughts / advice on helping me get that perfect espresso shot that looks just like this @ home :) ..
