Try this: make a normal cup of coffee, then steam some milk. Add a shot (or two!) of espresso directly to the milk. Add milk to coffee and enjoy. This one gets me through the nothing-applies-to-me meetings that we all have to endure...

Speaking of “The Buzz.” Was looking at the USDA's Nutrient Database (also available as downloads for Windows and Palm OS). Their caffeine values for coffee can be compared with any arbitrary amount. For instance, 100g of espresso (“Coffee, brewed, espresso, restaurant-prepared”) has 212g of caffeine and 100g of “regular coffee” (Coffee, brewed from grounds, prepared with tap water”) has 40mg. No idea which coffee they used for either of these values and some drip coffee can be much higher in caffeine than others. But, in this case, espresso has more than five times the amount of caffeine by weight that “brewed coffee” has. Obviously, a straight shot is less than a fifth the amount of those large coffee mugs that people drink, meaning that an espresso is still less caffeine than a cup of coffee. But the difference in the amount of caffeine is sometimes described as if espresso somehow extracted less caffeine than drip for the same amount of liquid. Many figures are thrown out and the USDA's numbers may not be that useful (since we know nothing of the process they used). But still, it'd be useful to have straightforward reliable information about caffeine.

seen this howto for the first time... My girlfriend simply bought a electronic timer which turnes our ecm giotto premium on at 5.45 AM so we can make capucino's en espresso's when we wake up ( I get up every day at 6.15 AM) and we don't even own a normal coffee machine anymore. Only a senseo which tastes like yukkie.... I wouldn't trow espresso in normall coffee, I simply would make uberstrong normal coffee :)
