My husband roasts his own coffee beans and prefers espresso made from his Italian espresso maker or coffee made from the French press. Can anyone suggest Christmas gift ideas for him? I know next to nothing about coffee but would love to surprise him with something fun and/or special. Thanks.
Good question. I might also add you might list what he currently has. As an example, it wouldn't be much good for someone to suggest a nice steaming pitcher or a RB tamper if he already owns both.

Good questions. He does already have a good grinder, tamper, thermometer, cups and steaming pitchers (though these look kind of utilitarian so I'm not sure if they are "good" ones). He also loves ordering coffee beans and has bought them from several companies. He likes to roast them himself but not exclusively.
I'm hoping to spend around $100, either a single or on several less expensive items.

Any coffeegeek would enjoy this: http://www.amazon.ca/Black-Coffee/dp/B000GJ0LDQ I just finished watching it tonight & can highly recommend it if he hasn't seen it. Its available on Amazon U.S. also but much more expensive.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions, I figured this forum was the right place to ask. The video sounds great and he is always complaining that the French press coffee gets cold quickly. I really appreciate your help.

My wife asked me to make a list, and here is mine. It is a espresso-accessory wish list for basics...just in case you happen to be my wife hahah. If your man has all that already,(then we can conclude that you're not my wife haha NO OFFENCE INTENDED) might I suggest a carafe to keep the French Press coffee warm, in addition to the blanket? The cosy that was mentioned before is a great idea while the coffee is brewing for the 4 or so minutes that it takes, but when that time's up then it must be drank straight away. If not, then it should b3 decanted into a different container, so as to not over-brew and make the coffee-fines create a bitter cup. I use a Emsa stainless one that my wife bought me for my birthday. It keeps the stuff hot for as long as I need it. I also have a glass-lined carafe made by the same people that was only $20. You are definitely in the right place to ask for gadgets, as I am still learning so much from all these fine folks, and even learning from the not-so-fine ones too! Whatever you get him, good luck and Merry x-mas!

The carafe is a great idea & the way to go with French Press/drip brewing. I picked up a Thermos-Nissan TGS 1000 on Ebay recently from Perkins Coffee. Bought it new for a $20 offer, which is a great deal as they normally sell for $35-$45.
