It has been a year and a few months since I got the Granos and wrote my research 'advantures', and I still love my choice. I am not very material so it is not some fetishism that I like the machine. I am just very particular about my espresso. What I can tell from my experience is that I no longer buy Starbucks espresso, as it is very distasteful compared to what I make at home. Plus, I really liked the design.
The only problem I had with this machine so far was with the tray underneath - it became corroded. So I just called Bodum and they sent me a new tray for free in 4 days. Great customer support, I testify for that.
My recommendation (it is really a personal taste) is to settle either for Lavazza or Lili, because these are the only two prepared ground coffees that I found up to my taste and expectations. You can also blend your own coffee, just check out the appropriate websites and run to the local shops. I leave in Boston, so around Harvard Sq. I found one nice coffee shop that I buy and blend my coffee. There is some choice in the Whole Foods Markets etc
Nice addition is the gurr as it allows you to grind and blend your own coffee. Do not go for the cheap stuff on e-bay - I did that and I regretted - the burr was not able to grind my coffee thin enough. There is a way to fix it if you are handy - take apart the grinding wheels and reassemble them with closer gap. This is not an easy manipulation altogether so I recommend to go for the expensive but proven gurrs.
