Wow, I need to check CG more often... I missed this and here it is, months later...
1) Aeropress... it's one thing to be able to read people's minds, it's another to see into the future, but as I was reading the article, I was thinking, 'you know, they really need an Aeropress...', so you were reading my mind in the future (to you, then). OK, I need more coffee.
2) I thought it was an interesting and very light article, being more of a passing story than anything deep... light convo. I know that a lot of people have a hard against them because of the predominant nature of their music -- but you wouldn't know what their music was from the article. You would have to have known of them already, or had to go and find them and listen to some (or at least read some titles) before you could be pre-judiced against them.
3) There is a huge variety of coffee swillers, coffee drinkers, coffee lovers, and coffee purists and I would think that the ranks would span philosophical arenas, too. It would not be hard to find a "God-never-existed-so-you're-a-s tupid-prig-for-bothering-me-with-you r-antiquated-mythology-and-by-the-way -Obama-won-and-is-going-to-steal-you r-money-and-give-it-to-me-because-you -don't-deserve-it-and-would-only-use -it-to-buy-guns-when-I-could-use-it- to-buy-pron-for-my-gay-friends" folks.
Jars are a band and they do what they do and they have their own views. I'd much rather get bogged down in reading about how they like coffee and take it with them on their bus and etc. than worry about "Their music sucks and you shouldn't have interviewed them because their Xtian!" -- which is what I got from reading the negative comments.
I am interested in coffee and coffee stuff. I can get political discussion everywhere else. Tell me about their bio-diesal-powered bus engine and how they heat water for their coffee while they drive on interstate.
If you want to balance the positive with some negative, interview "Too Much Coffee Man" -- you can get a full view of how evil and colonial America is. There's a rockin' jazz-based version of "Too Much Coffee Man" out there. Done by an Octagenarian, IIRC.

Thanks for putting together this interview. Was fun to read! I've loved the Jars of Clay for years now and love them that much more now that I know about their love for coffee! Will have to download their coffee song.
