Excellent article Mark. I am a huge BNL fan, and love the fact that even though Page isn't with them, he's such a clear coffeegeek. I would venture there are many more articles like this that could be written about other musicians and actors, and maybe we'll hear more in the future. Good work Mark, as always. This is a great perspective.

I've never had Ethiopian Beloya coffee before, so with the Ethiopian export problems and future availability concerns I ordered a bag from 49th Parallel Coffee. To save shipping cost I chose UPS ground which worked out just fine since the coffee beans arrived three days after roast at my house in Northern California. The 49th Parallel Beloya micro-lot #3 has a very nice dry and wet aroma. PT's sells the Beloya micro-lot #1 and #8. Maybe someone can explain the differences between these micro-lots.

I made press pot coffee with the Beloya from 4 to 9 days after roast. I can honestly say that this is the best tasting coffee I've ever made at home. In 2007 there was a discussion on HB how some people liked the Beloya better than the Panama Esmeralda. Now that I've had both, I agree that the Beloya is definately the better tasting coffee.

I also ordered the Ethiopian Ademe Bedane from 49th Parallel Coffees. To me it was disappointing when brewed in a press pot, not enough complexity. But it was very nice when pulled as a S.O. double ristretto. Very nice winey berry flavor with good body. That was nice! I pulled shots 6 to 10 days after roast.
