I noticed the Bodum Pavina glasses made the list. One review I saw online said they were fragile; another mentioned a flaw that allowed espresso to get between the glass walls. How sturdy or fragile are these? Would they be safe in a house without kids, or with klutzy adults?

The Pavinas are not as fragile as a wine glass, but not a lot more. I don't recommend them to klutzy adults. The Nuova Point line of cups would be a much better choice. I've seen a couple of the Pavinas with pinholes where the glass was blown; a friend of mine made the mistake of immersing it while washing and now he has a "fishbowl" effect. I don't know how common the defect is (and I'm not willing to test mine).

Pavinas that aren't completely sealed would be considered defective by Bodum, and candidates for warranty replacement.
I have not run into a situation yet where any Pavinas I have (6 espresso, 4 (gone and broken) 8oz sizes) were not sealed - I run them through the dishwasher.

Thanks for the Editor's Choice Awards, I feel that it can be of great help to someone trying to figure out what to buy, which can be overwhelming at times.
I was lucky to have picked Kid-O blend from intelligentsia as one of the first blends I was experimenting with. From time to time I try different blends, but end up back to Kid-O (I love this stuff)
I will definitely be using this 06 award list when I go to upgrade, thanks again.

My wife (tea) and I (coffee) have used almost nothing but Pavinas (in three sizes!) for the past year. No holes or other flaws. No breakage. We have retired all our mugs and recommend Pavinas to all our friends.

Mark-
This is too late to matter anymore, but I was curious about your comment in the Best Budget Espresso Grinder category that there's no runner up. I know you're making a point, and it's a "call to arms" of sorts, but I wondered how you felt about the Gaggia MDF grinder. For the same $200 or so as the Virtuoso, it seems like a viable alternative...
