10 out of 10 - something that needs to be said occasionally, was said, quite nicely.
I am guilty of cutting out a lot of ads via browser stuff - I just turned it off when viewing CG

Your article shamed me into wanting to buy something from one of your advertisers. I don't actually need anything but was impressed by a Reg Barber powder coated tamper for $45 on one of your advertisers websites. I added it to the basket, clicked all of the right boxes only to be told that "we don't deliver internationally"
The morale of the tale ? An international website but skewed to the US consumer.

I've spent a good deal of time browsing through CoffeeGeek's reviews, articles and forums, but never got around to registering until I stumbled upon this topic. There are many excellent suggestions posted that should make a real difference. And it's funny, there is some real naivety on the part of advertisers/sponsors if their only measurement involves looking at clickthroughs/direct purchases. Fairly common small biz mentality, though, and just one reason why many small businesses stay small or just outright fail. Also, why do so many hesitate to ask their customers "Where did you hear about us?" I'm in marketing and communications so I'm all too familiar with the battle...
Anyhoo, here's a factoid: I bought a Jura/Capresso S9 as a direct result of the CG review. I wanted a superautomatic for those really early mornings when just putting on pants is a challenge. CG's extremely thorough review revealed the S9 is among the best (for a superautomatic) so I bought one. I'm in Canada, so went with a Canadian retailer for warranty purposes. I'm not sure whether Capresso itself is a sponsor, but if anyone from Capresso's marketing team happens to read this -- you made at least one sale (and I'd suspect many) as a direct result of this site making someone aware you have a good product.
